Darra James Coleman graduated from the University of South Carolina, with honors from the South Carolina Honors College, in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in English-Secondary Education. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998 and is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in South Carolina, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Coleman served as law clerk for the Honorable Howard P. King, then resident judge of the South Carolina Third Judicial Circuit, prior to entering private practice. Prior to joining LLR, she was a partner in private practice. Currently, Ms. Coleman serves as Chief Advice Counsel, advising the boards and commissions, and drafting legislation.
Ms. Coleman is President of the Lexington County Bar Association and is active in the South Carolina Bar Association's Law Related Education Committee. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Lexington County Bar Association, Richland County Bar Association and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
Ms. Coleman is a certified family and circuit court mediator. Ms. Coleman is a frequent speaker and author of The Power of the Apology: Resolving Medical Malpractice Claims in South Carolina, published by the Charleston School of Law's Resolved, Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
She is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and is a member of the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers.
